News, News, News...
'Tis the season! Ho! Ho! Ho!
We are thoroughly into Holiday painting around here. Everyone in class is painting Christmas. I decided to put some things into a bazaar this year, and so am REALLY into painting Christmas. I like to paint on trays and have quite a collection I’ve gathered from garage sales, etc. over the year. They are a great surface for all those designs I want to paint but may not have the specific surface called for in the pattern.

I had a student inspire me to get into my box of gourds again. I am madly making them all into Santa’s of one kind or another. People love them and they make wonderful and unique gifts, especially for those Santa collectors. They can become Santa’s of any theme, size, or color. It’s easy to change a flat surfaced pattern into a gourd pattern with just a few little changes. This applies to Snowmen, also.

A New Addition to this site is a free pattern to download. This Stocking pattern is a quick and easy free pattern. These stocking ornaments paint up very quickly and are cute, personal additions for a tree or a package. You should be able to find stocking cutouts at your local craft store.

Something for the future . . . in 2009, I will have several projects in both “Painting” and “PaintWorks” magazines. The first will be coming out in the Spring issues. A garden bench, a clock (it’s buildings), a seasonal plate . . . . Keep an eye out for them.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season, everyone. Keep it fun and not stressful.

Tip:
Old #1 & #2 round brushes are good for dry brushing highlights in small places. Especially for streaking those shines on candy canes and peppermint candies. Wipe off most of the paint and drag the brush along. Then you won’t ruin your good brushes. |
